Tamil Nadu Medical Admission 2016 - The Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 merit list has been released on June 17, 2016 by the Selection Committee Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. Based on the merit list of Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 candidates has been called for counselling from June 20 for allotment of MBBS and BDS seats in various Government aided Health Sciences Institutes and Private Medical Health Sciences Institutes/Colleges. Government of Tamil Nadu do not conduct any separate undergraduate medical entrance exam but accepts 10+2/HSC marks for admission to 85% state quota MBBS and BDS seats. The remaining 15% which is All India Quota seats is filled through AIPMT/NEET 2016.
Eligibility Criteria
According to the eligibility criteria of Tamil Nadu MBBS 2018, candidates are required to obtain the minimum percentile according to their category in the NEET UG examination and complete the process of application form fill-up in order to be included in the Tamil Nadu MBBS 2018 merit list. Highlights of Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS Merit List 2018
- The merit list of Tamil Nadu MBBS 2018 will be released in the third week of June 2018.
- Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list 2018 will be collectively released for all the candidates who are eligible.
- The candidates will not be individually informed about Tamil Nadu MBBS 2018 merit list.
- The candidates included in the Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list 2018 will be able to attend the counselling process for Tamil Nadu MBBS 2018.
- Candidates can take a print-out of the merit list of Tamil Nadu MBBS 2018 for future reference.
Tie-Breaker Criteria of Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS Merit List 2018
The criteria for tie-breaking of Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list 2018 will be used in case two or more candidates have obtained the same marks in the NEET 2018. The various parameters used by the authorities for tie-breaking in the merit list of Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS 2018 are as follows.
- Candidates with higher marks in Biology in the NEET examination are given preference if there is a tie.
- If the tie still persists, then the candidates with higher marks in Chemistry subject are given preference in the Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list 2018.
- In case there is still a tie, then the candidate older in age is preferred.
The candidates whose names will be included in the Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS 2018 merit list are required to participate n the online choice filling process and subsequent counselling. The counselling of Tamil Nadu MBBS 2018 will be held in the last week of June 2018 tentatively.

Age: 17 years of age as on December 31, 2017
Domicile: Candidate should be a Citizen of India and native of Tamil Nadu
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have studied from VIII to XII standards in schools in Tamil Nadu
- Candidates who studied from VIII to XII standards either partly or completely in schools situated outside Tamil Nadu have to produce the Nativity Certificate
- Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board /any other equivalent Board in one and the same attempt with requisite percentage in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology and Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subjects
- Candidates undergoing MBBS and BDS course are not eligible to apply for MBBS and BDS course respectively
Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Application Form: The application form of Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 was available from May 26. Candidates had filled the Tamil Nadu Medical Admission 2016 Application Form in their own handwriting after downloading it. The last date to submission of filled in application form of Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS Admission 2016 was June 7, 2016. The application was sent in a large sized envelope measuring 38cm X 28cm with all requisite enclosures to the Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai -10.
The application fee for general category candidates was Rs. 500 while SC/SCA and ST candidates who are Natives of Tamil Nadu were exempted from payment of the cost of TN Medical 2016 Application Form.

Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Selection Procedure: Candidates to be selected for Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 admission strictly on the basis of merit list prepared by the admission authority Selection Committee Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. For allotment of MBBS and BDS seats, candidates have to participate in counselling process as per the schedule allotted for their rank. The allotment of MBBS and BDS seats to be done as per the rank of candidate and their preference for medical programmes and colleges.
Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Cut off: The cut off score of Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 has been released by the Selection Committee Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu.The cut off score of Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 is a minimal score which is required for participating in counselling process. Based on cut off score the Selection Committee has prepared rank list of candidates and accordingly the merit list of candidates has been determined. Candidates to be called for counselling as per their rank in merit list for seat selection process.
Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Merit List: The merit list of Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 will be the basis for allotment of MBBS and BDS seats available in government, semi-government and private medical and dental colleges. The ranking of candidates has been done based on their marks obtained in the science subjects of class 10+2/HSC. The Tamil Nadu MBBS and BDS 2016 merit list has been prepared after reducing the obtained marks in 10+2/HSC to the base of 200 marks. The marks obtained through different boards have been taken into account after normalization. Under the method of normalization the highest mark obtained by the students of various Boards in each subject has been equated to the highest mark obtained by the students of State Board in that subject and the relative marks obtained by other students in that subject to be determined accordingly. The normalized marks in the relevant subjects have been merged into a common merit list. In case of candidates who have qualified from National boards such as CBSE and ISCE etc., the highest marks obtained by candidate at the National Level alone has been be taken into consideration.
