Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 (TN PG Dental) is the state level entrance exam conducted by Selection Committee Directorate of Dental Education, Chennai for admission to as many as 40 MDS seats in different programmes offered at various government and private dental colleges.
Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted in pen and paper based mode on February 14. Candidates who wish to pursue MDS programmes from any of the government or private dental colleges of Tamil Nadu have to appear and qualify the entrance test. The examination authority Directorate of Dental Education, Chennai, Tamil Nadu has announced the examination time table for TN PG Dental 2016 on January 3.

Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 Eligibility: Candidates must have following eligibility for appearing in Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 (TN PG Dental).
Eligible:
- Applicants must be an Indian Citizen and have obtained their BDS degree from the State of Tamil Nadu after completing CRRI
- Candidates from other state and who have passed their BDS from any other state are not eligible to appear for TN PG Dental 2016 entrance exam
- Candidates must have passed their BDS Examination and completed / completing the CRRI period on or before March 31, 2016
- The candidates who are pursuing their CRRI have to submit a self-declaration that their CRRI will be completed on or before March 31, 2016. Applications without self-declaration for these candidates will be summarily rejected
Not Eligible:
- Candidates who joined MDS courses in any branch in 2015 academic session and left the course for any reason after the schedule date
- The candidates who take an allotment for MDS courses in any branch after May 25, 2015 and not join the course on or before the cut-off date
- Candidates who are undergoing MDS courses are not eligible to apply for any Post Graduate Degree / Diploma course Courses

Marking Scheme

Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 Application Procedure: Candidates can fill the application form after downloading it from January 4 to 19 while the last date for application receipt is January 20. To fill the TN PG Dental 2016 application form, candidates have to download it from the official website or from the link given below. Candidates are advised to read the application procedure before filing the application form. Candidates have to fill all the relevant columns in the application form as per the given instructions.
Filled application along with necessary enclosures and 3 self-addressed envelopes 23 X 10 cms to be sent to the Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai -10 before the last date along with a Demand Draft for 2000 towards the cost of application form drawn in favour of The Secretary, Selection Committee payable at Chennai.

Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 Admit Card: The examination authority had send the Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 admit card to candidates at their corresponding. Candidates who had not received their TN PG Dental 2016 admit card could download it from the link given below by entering their AR Number generated by computer and date of birth. Candidates who had downloaded their admit card were advised to paste their photograph on the hall tickets identical the one pasted on the application form.
Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 Result: The examination authority has been the Tamil PG Dental 2016 result . The result has declared for only those candidates who has scored the qualifying marks in the entrance test. The result declared after converting the total marks of the examination to 90.
Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 Merit List: The examination authority has declared the merit list of all the qualified candidates. The Merit List will be drawn for a total mark of 100 by computing the Entrance Examination Marks and the marks for experience. The 90 marks will be allotted for entrance test and 10 marks for experience.
How Tamil Nadu Dental 2016 Merit List will be determined:
- Marks secured by candidates in the entrance exam
- The total marks will be compressed to 100 out of which 90 marks for entrance test and 10 marks for experience
- One mark for each completed year after the completion of CRRI will be awarded as marks for experience for both service and non-service candidates to a maximum of Ten marks as on March 31, 2016
- Service candidates shall be awarded, one mark per year of service in rural areas and two marks per year of service in hilly areas and two marks per year of service in Government Hospitals, Primary Health Centres and Government Dental College Hospitals of Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Ramanathapuram Districts limited to a maximum of 10 marks
Altogether the total marks awarded for experience will be restricted to 10 marks to all candidates including candidates from rural, hilly and remote/difficult areas and the three districts.
1) Marks awarded for Entrance examination: Maximum 90 marks.
2) Experience marks for all candidates (both service and non-service) limited to a maximum of 10 (i+ ii+ iii)
i) One mark per year for experience after CRRI (All candidates).
ii) Marks for candidates served in rural, hilly and remote/difficult areas: -
- Rural area – 1 mark per year
- Hilly area – 2 marks per year
- Remote/difficult area – 2 marks per year
3) Two marks per year of Service for candidates who have worked in Government Hospitals, Primary Health Centres and Government Dental College Hospitals of Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Ramanathapuram Districts
Tamil Nadu PG Dental 2016 Counselling: The allotment of MDS seats to qualified candidates will be done through counselling procedure. The allotment MDS seats and dental colleges will be done as per the candidate’s preference and their rank in merit list. Candidates will be called for counselling according to their ranks in batches. They can choose any one of the branches or colleges available at the time of counselling. If any candidates do not attend the phase I of Tamil Nadu PG 2016 counselling they will not be eligible to attend subsequent phases of counselling.
All candidates attending the TN PG Dental 2016 counselling for MDS Course will have to remit a non- refundable amount of Rs. 500 by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Secretary, Selection Committee as processing fee.
