CLAT PG 2016 – Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) Patiala conducted ommon Law Admission Test for post graduate law programmes (CLAT PG) on May 8, 2016 for admissions to LLM programme in as many as 17 National Law Universities (NLUs). CLAT PG is the most coveted law entrance exam for admissions to post graduate law programmes including LLM in NLUs. The Common Law Admission Test for LLM (CLAT PG) is conducted annually by a National Law University (NLU), one among the 17 member NLUs of the CLAT Committee, by rotation in the order of their establishments. CLAT PG is a national level law entrance exam conducted every year for screening candidates for as many as 604 seats distributed among the 17 participating NLUs.

CLAT PG 2016 Admission Procedure – The post graduate law aspirants will be admitted to PG law programmes on the basis of merit-cum-preference of the candidates appearing in CLAT PG 2016. The candidates will be awarded an All India Rank (AIR) as per their performance in the exam.



The CLAT PG admission procedure follows a centralized counselling process, where seats are allotted to the candidates based on their secured AIR and their preferred NLUs during the choice-locking.



CLAT PG 2016 Important Dates – The exam conducting body and committee had declared the dates of CLAT PG 2016 along with the scheduled events. You can have an overview of CLAT PG 2016 Important Dates as provided below –

CLAT PG 2016 Eligibility – You could fill applications of CLAT PG 2016 after ensuring eligibility criteria of the post graduate common law admission test. As per the eligibility criteria, you need to possess a LLB degree or a five-year integrated LLB degree or any other equivalent degree from a recognized University securing at least 55% marks in aggregate. Those who are appearing in the current academic session of the LLB degree programme can also be considered eligible for CLAT PG 2016, subjected to the minimum qualifying marks in the qualifying examination.



As per the CLAT PG 2016 eligibility conditions, there is no age bar for appearing in the post graduate law entrance exam. Therefore, you can fill the applications once you meet the above eligibility criteria, irrespective of any age limit.



CLAT PG 2016 Application Form – CLAT PG 2016 Applications were announced from January 1 in online mode. You needed a login id and password for CLAT PG 2016 Online Applications, which could be generated by registering yourself through the official CLAT PG 2016 registration link in this page.



You could access your applications through the generated login id and password. You also needed to upload a set of documents during the online applications of CLAT PG 2016. The necessary documents included Class X marks-sheet, Class XII marks-sheet, LLB Degree programme marks-sheet and Signature of parent/guardian along with the recent photograph and signature of the candidate.



Once you had filled in the online applications, you needed to remit an application fee against the common law admission test for post graduate programmes of Rs. 4000 (Rupees Four Thousand only) in any of the modes – online or offline.



While the online payment mode included options of Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking, the fee can be remitted through Bank Challan facility of ICICI Bank, in case of offline mode.



CLAT PG 2016 Admit Card – The admit card for CLAT PG 2016 is available in online mode only. CLAT PG 2016 E-Admit Card can be accessed and downloaded from April 15. You can download the admit cards by logging into your registered accounts using the login id and password generated while applying. You are advised to take a print out of the same for future correspondences.



CLAT PG 2016 Hall Ticket/Admit Card will mention the PG exam details including name of the appearing candidate, venue and timing. In case of any discrepancy, you can bring it to notice of exam authorities, at the earliest.



CLAT PG 2016 Test Centres – The Common Law Admission Test for LLM was conducted in as many as 66 cities across India. We have provided you a complete list of CLAT PG 2016 Test Centres/Testing Venues.



Last year, the coveted post graduate law entrance was conducted in as many as 173 exam centres of 52 cities of India, which included 7 cities of Uttar Pradesh, Amritsar, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Imphal, Jodhpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Ranchi and Vishakhapatnam.



CLAT PG 2016 Exam Pattern – The coveted PG law entrance exam was conducted on May 8. The online common law admission test for post graduate law programmes was conducted for two hours beginning at 3:00 pm.



CLAT PG online paper comprised a total of 150 questions carrying maximum marks of 150, wherein each question would be of one mark. The 150 questions would be asked majorly from three sections including Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, other legal topics – Law of Contracts, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, Family Law, Property Law, Intellectual Property Law, etc.


The PG law exam followed a system of negative marking under which one mark would be awarded for every correct answer and for every incorrect response, 0.25 marks each would be deducted from the total scored marks.



You were needed to answer each question with an appropriate response among the four given against each question by marking/clicking in in the computer based test.

The exam committee has also issued the response sheet of candidates appearing in the admission test along with the official answer key so as to follow a transparency in the exam system. You can access their response sheets by logging through your registered accounts.



CLAT PG 2016 Result – RGNUL Patiala will be declaring result of PG law entrance exam on May 23. You can check CLAT PG 2016 Result by logging into your respective accounts using the login id and password. The result tab on login page will provide your performance in CLAT PG 2016 including All India Rank (AIR), State Rank and State Category Rank.


Based on CLAT PG 2016 Result and AIR, you will be further called in for participating in the counselling process.


In case of any tie between two or more candidates with equal scores as per the result of the post graduate admission test, the same shall be broken in the following procedure and method –

CLAT PG 2016 Rank List – RGNUL Patiala will be publishing Rank List of CLAT PG 2016, along with the results. CLAT PG 2016 Rank List will provide detailed information of the total number of candidates, their total scores, subject-wise marks and All India Rank as well as State Ranks.



CLAT PG 2016 Cutoff – The cutoff of CLAT PG 2016 will also be determined by the exam conducting body, RGNUL Patiala in accordance with the issued rank list of the exam. CLAT PG 2016 Cutoff will be the minimum marks scored by a candidate for participating in the counselling rounds and lock his/her choices of preference for NLUs. Candidates will only be allotted the seats in the counselling procedure, after they meet the cutoff.



CLAT PG 2016 Counselling and Procedure – The exam committee will be declaring the counselling schedule and procedure of CLAT PG 2016. You will be required to participate in the CLAT PG 2016 counselling process and lock choices of preferences for NLUs.



As per the locked choices and exam scores, you will be allotted seats in the NLUs. Once you have been allotted a seat and accept the seat, a counselling fee needs to be deposited within a stipulated time so as to be considered against the seat. After the completion of the fee deposition process, the exam committee will be issuing the seat allotment list for next counselling round. You can lock, upgrade or withdraw any seat during the counselling rounds. The CLAT 2016 Committee may conduct as many as 4 counselling rounds for the seat allotment process.



CLAT PG 2016 Seat Allotment – The seat allotment will be done in accordance with the NLU preferences chosen by you among the 17 participating NLUs during choice locking procedure. CLAT PG 2016 Seat Allotment is a process involved within the counselling schedule, wherein the RGNUL Patiala and CLAT committee allots seats of NLUs to the candidates based on their AIR and choices locked.
