WHAT IS UCEED?
The result of UCEED 2018 has been declared on February 21 by IIT Bombay. Final answer key of UCEED 2018 has been released on February 8. Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED) 2018 was held on January 20, 2018 in online mode. Candidates who have qualified 12th standard (or equivalent) or are appearing in 2018 in any stream (Science, Commerce or Arts and Humanities) will be considered eligible to apply for UCEED 2018. UCEED is an online examination conducted by IIT Bombay for admissions to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programmes offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IIITDM Jabalpur. All UCEED admissions will be done based on the merit and selection of seats by the candidates. All candidates, Indian and of Foreign nationality, were eligible for admission if they meet the required criteria. UCEED 2018 examination consisted of numerical, multiple type and multiple choice questions.
UCEED APPLICATION DETAILS
Steps to fill in UCEED Application Form:
Step -1 – Online Registration - UCEED Application Form
- Candidates have to register themselves to begin the application process of UCEED.
- The candidates are advised to read the instructions carefully given in admission brochure on how to fill application form so that they can know procedures and documents required at the time of applying.
- At the time of UCEED online registration the candidates have to enter their personal information like their name, mobile number, date of birth, mobile number, email id, etc.
- The candidates are advised not to delete the email sent to them as that will be used for future reference.
- Once the online registration process is completed a registration number and password is generated to fill UCEED application form. The application number and password will also be forwarded at the registered email id and mobile number. The candidates are advised to note the application number and password as it will be required for all future correspondence.
Step - 2- Completing online UCEED Application Form
- Candidates eligible for UCEED have to fill their personal details like their name, parents name, corresponding address, category, etc. in the online application form on the web page.
- The candidates have to enter all the relevant information as asked in application form of UCEED. The candidates mandatorily have to choose 3 exam cities preferences.
- At this stage, the candidates have to upload their signature and photos as per the given specification apart from other supporting documents.
- The candidates must ensure whether the information filled by them is correct, by using the Preview option, before they click on Pay fee & Submit, as no option of further edit or change is available.
- By clicking on the Pay fee & Submit button, the Application procedure will be completed.
Step - 3- Filling up Education Information
- At this stage of UCEED application procedure candidates have to fill their education qualification in the given fields.
- The candidates have to enter information like marks obtained in class XII and class X, subjects studied, etc.
- Applicants are advised to fill all the information as per the given guidelines.
Step - 4- Payment of UCEED Application fee
- Candidates can submit application fee of UCEED by using online payment gateway.
- The online payment of UCEED application fee can be done through net banking/credit card/debit card.
- On successful payment completion, the candidates will get a confirmation page. Applicants may save a copy of this.
- The application fee doesn’t include service/processing or any other charges, which the bank may charge.

Note: As per latest order of Supreme Court of India, third gender includes only trans-genders, eunuchs and hijras. Lesbians, gays and bisexuals need to select either Male or Female option as appropriate.
UCEED ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Based on Attempts:
1. The candidates can appear in UCEED exam for a maximum two consecutive years.
2. The candidates will also be required to appear or clear the qualifying examination (Class 12th or equivalent). Candidates who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination will not be eligible to again take the UCEED
Based on Qualifying Examinations:
1. The final examination of Class XII should be conducted by a central or state board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
2. Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination conducted by a board or university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
3. Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
4. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
5. Any public school, board or university examination in India or in a foreign country recognized as equivalent to class XII system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
6. H.S.C. vocational examination.
7. A diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education or a state board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
8. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
9. High school certificate examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
10. Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination.
11. In case the class XII examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (board or pre-university) examination earlier.
Eligibility Criteria for B.Des programme:
1. For admission to B. Des, the candidate is required to have passed in the qualifying examination.
2. If a qualifying board awards only letter grades without providing information on the passing grade on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the passing grade and submit it at the time of online acceptance of the allocated seat.
3. The criteria, as specified above, is applicable “in toto” to all the candidates including foreign nationals.
Reservation Criteria for UCEED:
Candidates with Indian nationality belonging to certain categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules of the government of India. The categories and the extent of reservation are as follows:
1. 27% of seats in the course will be reserved for other backward classes belonging to the non-creamy layer (OBC-NCL), while candidates belonging to the creamy layer of OBC will not be entitled for reservation. Such candidates will be considered general category (i.e., unreserved).
2. 15% seats in the course will be reserved for scheduled caste (SC) candidates.
3. Candidates belonging to scheduled tribe (ST) will have a reservation of 7.5% of seats in the course.
4. 3% seats will be reserved for persons with disability (PwD) candidates from the parent category in the course. (leprosy-cured candidates who are otherwise fit to pursue the course are also included in PwD category).
5. The seats remaining vacant in the OBC-NCL category can be allotted to General category candidates, while SC and ST categories’ vacant seats can’t be allotted to candidates belonging to other categories.
6. Foreign nationals will not be considered in the ambit of reservation of seats under the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories
For B.Des + M.Des Dual programme:
Candidates pursuing 5 year B.Des + M.Des dual degree programme will study M.Des programme after completing 3 years of B.Des programme.

UCEED COUNSELLING DETAILS
- The candidates qualifying UCEED can apply for admission to the B. Des. and dual degree of B.Des.+M.Des. programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IITDM Jabalpur campuses.
- If the selected candidates do not pay the fees before the deadline or decline the admission, their application will stand cancelled.
- These vacant seats after the counselling process of UCEED will be filled during the second round of admissions in the second week of July.
- If vacant seats still exist, a selected number of applicants (depending on the vacancies available and category wise reservation), who are on the top of the remaining rank list, will be called for spot admission prior to the UG orientation at 3 campuses.
- The exact date will be intimated to the applicants). Candidates need to be present in person in UCEED counselling with the necessary documents and fees for such spot admissions.
- Spot admission will also be based on the rank and category-wise vacancy hence is not guaranteed for all those who are present during the spot admission.

What's New in UCEED 2018?
- UCEED 2018 was held in 20 cities. Last year, the examination was held in 19 cities by the authorities. The list of the exam cities has also been modified and announced for all interested candidates.
- The score card of UCEED 2018 is available alongside the result i.e., from February 21, 2018.
- GST was also calculated along with the application fees of UCEED 2018.
- The age limit for appearing in UCEED 2018 was revised. Open or OBC-NCL candidates born on or after October 1, 1993, were elible to appear in the entrance exam. SC, ST and PwD candidates could avail age relaxation of up to five years.
UCEED Results will be shared with the following institutes who will offer admissions to B.Des programme on the basis of the scores of candidates in UCEED 2018. These institutes/ universities will not be particiapting in the UCEED counselling process, however, will offer admission to candidates through UCEED 2018 scores on some seats only.

The result of UCEED 2018 is available in online mode for all candidates from February 21. The candidates can access the UCEED 2018 result in online mode through their login ID and password. UCEED 2018 Answer Key
The competent authority released UCEED 2018 final answer key on February 8. Earlier, the question paper and draft answer key of UCEED 2018 were released on January 25 in online mode. Using the released UCEED answer key 2018, the candidates will be able to check and compare their answers with the correct ones. The probably secured scores can be calculated by the candidates using the answer key. In case of any discrepancy/ comment regarding the UCEED answer key 2018, the candidates had to send an email with the subject "Comments on Answer Keys" to uceed@iitb.ac.in on or before January 31, 2018.UCEED 2018 Mock Test
IIT Bombay released the mock test of UCEED 2018 in online mode on January 17, 2018. Candidates had to simply click on sign in link button (Given below) and start with the mock test. Candidates could take the mock test to experience the entrance exam. Candidates were advised not to use their UCEED 2018 registration number and password to the the mock test, as the log in details were already filled in the mock test of UCEED 2018. By using the mock test of UCEED 2018, candidates could learn to use the various features, symbols and buttons in the mock test. Taking UCEED mock test also helped the candidates in mastering various aspects related to the exam like how to answer a question, how to keep the answer under review, how to go to the next question, etc. The result of UCEED 2018 mock test was not reflected after the test on the computer screen. Candidates had to use only computer to take the mock test, as it may not work on mobile devices or tablet. The instructions in the mock test were based on last year's UCEED paper and they may differ in the paper of UCEED 2018.UCEED Rank List 2018
The rank list of UCEED 2018 will be prepared based on the total marks in the examination. No separate category wise rank list will be available. There will be only one rank list. The category wise cutoff marks will be mentioned in the rank list. All candidates who manage to qualify UCEED 2018 examination will have to register themselves for the counselling session. The application form for UCEED Counselling will be available from June 8 to June 23, 2018. While filling the application form, the candidates will be required to enter their personal and academic details. All of the required eligibility criteria should also be fulfilled by the candidates. Order of preferred institutes can also be edited by the candidates before the final date of registration. Three rounds of UCEED 2018 seat allotment will be held by the admission authorities. Allotment of seats will be done based on the candidate’s UCEED 2018 rank, category and preference of institute. The selected candidates will receive their provisional allotment letters through their registered email id. Payment of seat acceptance fee (Rs. 60,000) will have to be done through online mode. Failure to pay the fee before the last date will lead to the cancellation of allotted seat. The admit card of UCEED 2018 was available for download from January 1, 2018 onwards. Only registered candidates were able to download their admit cards. Before downloading the admit card, candidates had to check the document for any mistakes. The admission authorities had to be contacted in case of any discrepancy. How to download UCEED 2018 Admit Card:
- Candidates had to click on download link.
- Use registered login Id and password to access the UCEED admit card.
- After entering all the details, admit card for all the eligible candidates of UCEED 2018 appeared on the screen.
- Before download check all the details mentioned on it.
- Take a print out of the same and keep it safe.
UCEED Application Form 2018
The application form of UCEED 2018 with regular fee was over on November 12. The last date for filling the application form of UCEED 2018 with late fee was November 17. The following steps had to be followed while filling UCEED Application Form 2018 :- Registration – The candidates were required to register themselves by submitting their name, mobile number, date of birth, mobile number, email id and more. A registration ID and password was generated after successful registration.
- Filling of Application Form – Personal, educational and contact details of the candidates had to be provided while filling the UCEED 2018 application form. Three exam city preferences also had to be submitted.

UCEED Exam Centres 2018
UCEED 2018 examination was held in 20 cities in India. The candidates had to select three exam centres as preferences while filling the online application form. The selected exam centres cannot be changed after the submission of the application form. One city may have multiple exam centres. The committee of UCEED 2018 had the right to add or remove exam centres and allot a centre that may not be the selected choice of the candidates. The authorities were allowed to drop an exam centre if enough number of candidates were not available there. UCEED Sample Papers 2018
The sample papers of UCEED 2018 helped the candidates practice for the upcoming entrance examination. Using UCEED 2018 sample papers, the candidates were able to practically apply all of their studied topics and concepts. The UCEED sample papers consisted of the previous year question papers of UCEED which the candidates could use for the purpose of practice. All candidates were advised to solve UCEED sample papers 2018 to boost their preparation process for the examination.
