AIBE 2018 Summary
Bar Council of India (BCI) is the exam conducting authority of AIBE. BCI conducts this exam to evaluate whether a law graduate possesses the required aptitude to practice law in the country or not. All India Bar Examination (AIBE) came into existence in 2010 when the Legal Education Committee and BCI members passed a notification regarding the exam. AIBE exam is held bi-annually each year.

AIBE conducted by BCI is an open book exam which tests an aspirant’s analytical skills as well as basic knowledge of law. While taking AIBE exam, aspirants can select the medium of instruction of the exam from 11 languages. Aspirants need to secure a minimum of 40% score to clear AIBE exam. Once an aspirant clears AIBE, he/she will be awarded "Certificate of Practice" by the BCI. Any advocate who doesn’t possess this certificate is not allowed to practice law in India.
AIBE XII exam dates have been announced and the exam is scheduled to be held on June 10, 2018.
AIBE 2018 Eligibility
Aspirants need to have cleared LLB in order to meet the eligibility criteria of AIBE. Candidates are eligible to apply for AIBE XII if they are already enrolled as “an advocate under Section 24 of the Advocates Act 1961”.
In order to meet AIBE eligibility criteria, aspirants need to submit the proof of their enrollment along with the application form for AIBE exam.
AIBE 2018 Process
Step 1: Register for AIBE XIII
Aspirants can register for AIBE XII only in the online mode. Candidates are informed that they do not need to send the hard copy of AIBE XII application form or any other document to the Bar Council of India. In AIBE application form, aspirants need to fill their personal details, exam centre preference and question paper language preference.
Step 2: Download AIBE Admit Card
The admit card for AIBE exam includes the candidate’s name, roll number and AIBE XII exam centre details. The AIBE admit card also includes the reporting time for the exam. Aspirants are advised to reach their test centre atleast half an hour before the exam commencement time.
Step 3: Appear for AIBE Exam XII
AIBE exam is conducted bi-annually. Aspirants can choose to appear for the exam as per their own preference. Aspirants can select from 11 languages to give AIBE exam paper. In AIBE 2018, aspirants will have to attempt a total of 100 multiple choice questions.
Step 4: Check AIBE exam result
Aspirants can check their result for AIBE XII on the official website of the exam by filling in details such as their – AIBE roll number and date of birth.
Once the result for AIBE exam has been declared, candidates who have cleared the exam will be issued a “Certificate of Practice” by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The Certificate of Practice would be send to the registered address (as mentioned in AIBE application form) of the candidates who has cleared AIBE exam within 30 days of declaration of AIBE result.
